What kind of detox are you craving?

It’s always the same. When the weekend shows up you’re craving chocolate, cheese and wine. But afterwards? I sat down with the girls behind our two detox-focused programs, Libby (creator of BUF Body) and Cass (creator of Red Carpet Ready), right after the Easter long weekend to see just how naughty they were (hehe) and also for a detox Q&A to get you motivated and back on track after your own indulgences!

Q: Let’s be real here, we want to know what you indulged in a little too much of over the Easter break!?

LIB: Dark chocolate, cheese, nuts and birthday cake with cream – it was my man’s birthday, what could I do!?CASS: Wine and a few margaritas, eating out too much and yep… chocolate too.

Q: Spill the beans on your favourite way/s to detox after a social weekend?

LIB: Going back to basics is my number one. That means cutting out all complicated and packaged foods and just eating foods with one ingredient only! Vegetables, fruit, meat, nuts and seeds are IN, there’s a little fermented dairy but not much else – I say goodbye to grains and packaged foods for awhile, remove alcohol from the scene and cut right back on caffeine.CASS: Definitely no alcohol or coffee during the week! I like to include some vegetable juices and bone broth in my daily food plan to lighten up and help my digestion get back on track too.

Q: What kind of workout makes you feel ‘back on track’?

LIB: A mix of plyometrics, bodyweight strength exercises completed at high rep counts and short-and-fast cardio like sprints, skipping, or boxing, all set to rocking beats. Hits the spot every single time!CASS: I love a good circuit session with a mix of strength and cardio exercises, using free weights and lots of varied cardio, including my favourites; air squats and mountain climbers!

Q: 5 foods we’ll always find in your shopping basket when you’re on a health kick?

LIB: Matcha green tea, cruciferous vegetables, berries, oily fish and activated nuts/seeds.CASS: Leafy greens, organic grass-fed meats, colourful vegetables, fresh juices and bone broth.

Q: What’s your guilty pleasure, that one thing you allow yourself a little of even when on a health kick?

LIB: 99% cacao dark or raw chocolate – life is just so much better with chocolate! I used to find the taste too bitter but after going low sugar for a few weeks you’ll find that your taste buds adjust and anything much lower than 80% tastes too sweet. My new favourite brand is Simon Coll.CASS: Pic’s crunchy peanut butter. A little spoonful kills even the strongest cravings for me!

Q: What do you use to boost your motivation to get moving when it starts to dwindle?

LIB: I think about how I’ll feel after the workout, rather than trying to motivate myself to get started. It works every time (almost).CASS: I grab a training buddy, play some of my favourite pump-up tunes and go for it!

Q: Best workouts in Body & RCR for burning off all those Easter eggs?

LIB: The Wednesday themed workouts are longer than the rest and seriously motivating because Leash (our other Body coach) and I do them all live on video with you guys, so you get a little extra push from us and have a way to pace yourself.CASS: There’s a session in RCR called the Lean Body List and it’s my all-time favourite! A mix of high repetition strength exercises and short-burst cardio to get you moving fast and breathing hard. I hope you got a little something out of my Q&A with Lib & Cass. Now for the good part…
