Our Favourite Organic Food Shops in Bondi
If we had to pick our #1 secret to healthy living, it would be to make sure you're eating healthy food. And if we had to pick our #1 tip for eating healthy food, it would be to eat food that is as close to its natural state as possible... also known as picking food that is low HI (that's low Human Interaction for the uninitiated).We could probably talk about what that means all day long but part of eating low HI food is going organic where possible, after all we want our fresh produce to actually be fresh and ideally free of man made chemicals and products like pesticides or waxes (tip: did you know a thick wax coating is added to all non-organic apples to keep them 'fresh' - and this wax contains all sorts of nasties, sometimes even gluten? No thanks). One of the biggest problems when trying to eat healthy food is finding the really good stuff! So we thought we'd bring you a list of our favourite organic shops in Bondi.
Earth Food Store
81a Gould St, Bondi BeachWe love Earth Food store because it's just so darn convenient! Right in the heart of Bondi, a good selection of health food and fresh produce, plus the friendliest locals in town behind the counter. If you're a meat eater you can grab Sam The Butcher prepared meat from the back fridge (Sams is all organic, hormone free and grass fed). They also do great juices and fresh salads next door (plus coffee if you need your caffeine hit) and there's a linked studio run by a local naturopath where you can pick up great quality supplements (fish oil, multi-v's, etc).View Larger Map

129 Bondi Road, BondiIf you're a meat eater, make sure it's great quality meat you're indulging in - and there are only two places in/near Bondi we trust: G.R.U.B. in Vaucluse, or Sam The Butcher in Bondi. We're a little addicted to Sam's chicken paddies (with pistachios and dates... amazing) and you can also grab fresh game here like crocodile and kangaroo.View Larger Map
The Health Emporium
263-265 Bondi RoadAnother conveniently positioned local, The Health Emporium is opposite the Rum Diaries (one of our fave restaurants FYI), just at the top of the steep part of Bondi Rd, past the Royal Hotel. At HE, you'll find a great selection of healthy products and they make the best superfood smoothies in town! We love the cacao and avocado smoothie... so much better than it might sound, in fact seriously yum.View Larger Map
About Life
31-37 Oxford St, Bondi JunctionA little out of the hustle and bustle of Bondi Junction, near the bus depot and almost at Centennial Park is About Life. It's got a cafe inside which is nice too, but usually we're here for healthy products that are hard to find elsewhere. This place is like a health nut's version of Coles or Woollies - a lifesaver for those of you who want to be healthy but don't want to give up eating crackers, cheese, chocolate and ice-cream (they stock flaxseed crackers, goats brie, hand rolled raw chocolate and coconut milk ice-cream, woah!). 244 Oxford St, Bondi JunctionRight across the road from About Life is The Suveran, which is not for profit and has seriously great produce at seriously decent prices (about a thousand percent cheaper than any other organic green grocer in Sydney!).
