The 5 Moves You Need To Know
- C Rotations – This works the small muscles in both your arms and back to get them toned, tight and ready to show off on your big day (hello, strapless dress!). If done properly you’ll really feel the burn. Simple stand upright with your arms extended outwards and draw an imaginary letter C simultaneously on both sides. It’s really important you engage all the muscles in your arms while you do this, maintaining lots of tension all the way to your fingertips.
- Chest-to-Floor Burpees – The ultimate fat blasting workout. This full body cardio movement will get you sweaty, sexy and lean. To get the most out of your burpee, don’t forget to finish it off by jumping as high as you can!
- Single Leg Hip Raises – Great for toning and shaping your booty. A must-do, especially for a tight fitted wedding dress! Make these harder by lying by elevating the working leg on a wall/step/Bosu ball.
- Plank Row to Tricep Kickback – The best move to target your back, arms and core all in one. One of Cass’ signature moves for toned arms and a flat tummy!
- Skipping – This gets the heart racing, the calories burning and is another amazing arm and core whittler.
Turn these moves into a workout:
- 40 x C Rotations
- 30 x Hip Raises (15/side)
- 20 x Plank Row to Tricep Kickback (10/side)
- 10 x CTF Burpees
- 100 x Skips (aim to complete these 100 in one minute or less!)
- Rest 60 secs
- Repeat x 3-4
3 Questions With Cassey
Two months out from the big day, what are the major changes a bride needs to make?
- The first thing is to make sure you’re moving your body every day. Three to four intense workouts each week is plenty, but around that you need to look for opportunities to walk, stretch and strengthen your body.
- Next, clean up your diet. Reduce sugar, alcohol and processed foods; increase greens, water and gut friendly foods like broth, plain yoghurt and fermented vegetables. Make sure you’re including healthy fats like avocado and olive or coconut oil to improve hair and skin quality. Increase lean proteins to boost metabolism and make your own food as often as you can, so you know exactly what’s going into it and can avoid hidden sugars and salts.
- Take up practices that reduce stress. This might include taking up yoga, meditation or breathing exercises, or simpler things like making time for a walk on your lunch break and cutting down coffee. Reducing the amount of stress hormones you’re producing makes it easier to score a flatter tummy, encourages glowing skin and helps you enjoy the ride!
What was the most important thing you learnt as a fit bride in the lead-up to your own wedding? You need to enjoy the journey! And that’s exactly why I created BUF Bride; because too often women get caught up in organising, budgeting and worrying... they forget to find a little time for themselves. It’s important to create that time just for you, to workout, chill out and reflect. What’s your advice to other women at the beginning of their bridal body journey?Throw out the scales and don’t get hung up on weight loss! If you’re moving your body everyday, eating a (mostly) clean diet and reducing stress in the lead up to your big day, I promise you will feel happy, healthy, toned and HOT on your wedding day. You don’t need a set of scales to tell you how you should feel.
