Trainer Beauty Tips: Low Maintenance, High Impact

Working out with a full face of makeup on doesn’t feel quite right, but that doesn’t mean you always want to show up bare faced for a sweat session either – and as trainers, we definitely want to feel awake and at least a little bit polished when we show up for our clients bright ‘n’ early. But making a lot of effort at 5am isn’t that appealing, so how do you strike a balance? With a few minimal effort, but high impact beauty tricks, of course!

Read on for the low maintenance tips your trainers swear by, which we hope will help you feel amazing, while still getting alllll the extra minutes of sleep too ;)

Sian: Brows by My Rejuvenate

“I never thought I’d be one to get cosmetic tattooing (or any tattooing for that matter!) but after Libby got it done with Talina at My Rejuvenate and raved that it saved her so much time in the mornings, all the other girls gave it a whirl and finally I caved and nervously booked an appointment! Can I just say, this is the BEST thing I’ve ever done when it comes to low maintenance beauty. You always have perfect brows – even when you roll out of bed. Now all I have to do is get up and GO! Apparently Talina did Miranda Kerr’s brows too, so you’ll be in good company ;)”

Check it out: myrejuvenate.com.au, or @myrejuvenate on Instagram (tell Talina you’re a BUF Girl for a cheeky 10% off!)

Cass: Jane Iredale BB cream

“I’ve been using this product for as long as I can remember and it’s still my number one low maintenance product – it’s a one-stop moisturiser, foundation and sun protection cream that gives the best dewy coverage, while letting your skin breathe. Seriously worth the investment, I just wake up, wash my face and then slip this on in the car on the way to training!”

Leash: Batiste XXL Dry shampoo

“If you haven’t discovered dry shampoo yet, you’re missing out on a fit girl’s best friend. I use this after the gym or in-between washes to freshen up sweaty locks, or right after a fresh wash to add volume and make my ponytail thicker.”

Libs: Super simple but high quality products

“I have a history of trouble skin, and learned early on that a lot (okay, most) off-the-shelf products would just make my skin worse, even if they came stamped with a big “non-comedogenic” on the label. These days, my number one rule when it comes to beauty is to keep things simple and really look after your skin – when you’re glowing, you’re happy! There are three things that are really important to me, and they are (1) using really simple but high quality skincare (2) using only mineral makeup specially formulated for problem skin (also GREAT to workout in as your skin breathes) and (3) regular medical-grade facials (one every few months usually does the trick, you don’t have to go overboard!”

Check it out: These are the places and products I recommend for numbers 1, 2, and 3 above…

  1. I use Cosmedix Benefit Clean face cleanser, or when I’m on the go I love The Cleansing Pad. I also love Cosmedix Shineless Oil Free Moisturiser – all three of these products are available at theclinic.net.au. For a cheaper product that’s also kind to sensitive skin and provides killer sun protection, I love Avene’s new BB cream, which you can grab from most chemists, or at avene.com.au.

  2. I’ve only recently discovered and fallen in love with Adorn Cosmedics – check out the range at adorncosmedics.com.au and I dare you not to blow your budget ;)

  3. I also get my facials from the skin angels at theclinic.net.au but if you don’t have time to hit up a pro, I’ve heard the 5-day Beautitox from @ms_soho (find them on Instagram) is pretty great and leaves you with a nice healthy glow.
