Why Diets Don't Work & What To Do Instead (ft. The Weight Psych!)

One of the biggest questions we get asked about our programs is WHY there’s no calorie counting, strict ‘food lists’, or prescribed meal plans? We suggest totally delicious recipes, provide weekly guides and life-changing nutrition education, but no diets you “must” stick to in order to succeed and no foods are 'banned'. So, the answer is…we’ve done our research!

We’ve read the science, we’ve worked with hundreds of women over the past decade and we KNOW, without a doubt, that for most (actually, around 97%) of women, diets or strict food rules, deprivation and over-exercising do not work in the long-term.

The last thing we want is for our girls to keep yo-yo’ing and have to do our program three times a year just to maintain their results...no way! We want you to understand nutrition and what works for you, to mindfully select your meals because you want to feel great, to consider your hormonal and overall health and to enjoy your food rather than demonise it.

It’s about empowerment and enjoyment - because a happy relationship with food and a healthy approach to exercise will always result in a happier, healthier body that you get to keep forever, not just for a season! But don’t take our word for it! This week we called in our favourite Psychologist, Glenn Mackintosh, aka The Weight Psych and Libby’s on-screen counterpart on The Biggest Loser: Transformed (you might remember him from THIS blog about Body Image), for a chat on the couch about creating naturally healthy habits that last.

In this juicy 20-minute interview (you might want to take it with you for a few laps of the block!), Libby and Glenn discuss:

  • Why diets and deprivation simply don't work long-term

  • Your brain’s natural response to diets

  • The “Nike Swoosh” of weight loss/gain

  • If not dieting, then what?

  • The solution scientifically proven to work

  • Creating healthy habits that last

  • Practical ways to make your new habits stick

  • Where does exercise fit into the picture?

If you love this chat and feel like you need a helping hand to take your own progress to the next level and step off the diet rollercoaster for good, Glenn has a 6-week program kicking off on May 21st that will help you create the healthy habits you need to finally eat well without trying, fall in love with exercise, learn to accept your body and free yourself from weight worries for good.

We’re all about sharing the love and promoting ANYTHING that will help you to fall in love with a healthy lifestyle and live your best life, so click here to check out Glenn’s Naturally Healthy Habits program, and we’ve organised a cheeky discount for you too.

Here’s to creating and supporting healthy, happy women everywhere :-)

Love Libby xoxo
