4 New Ways To Detox

Let’s be honest, vegetable juice cleanses just aren’t everybody’s cup of kale juice. So what do you do when you want to detox but you don’t want to do a full-on detox? Today each of our four BUF Girls shares her favourite cleansing tip for a fresh mind and body to kick off 2016 in the right way – not the hungry way.

Libby’s CARE Detox

Detoxes don’t have to be complicated, with fancy juices and potions – just take CARE of yourself by eliminating (C)offee (A)lcohol (R)efined sugar (E)verything Packaged from your diet completely for 10 days. This is a quick, easy and achievable little detox that gets you eating a whole food diet to clean up your insides, while subliminally reminding you that you’re doing it all to take CARE of yourself.

Cassey’s Red Hot Detox

My favourite way to detox quickly and without fuss is by spending time in an infrared sauna. These kind of saunas heat your tissues several inches deep, which can enhance your natural metabolic processes, boost circulation and help oxygenate your tissues. They always make me feel instantly relaxed, leaner and more flexible too, and give my skin a rosy glow. If you’re in Sydney (or visiting), make sure you check out the infrared at Health Space Kings Cross – it’s the best!

Alicia’s Mind Matters Detox

I firmly believe a good detox starts with getting your mind in the right place, because where the mind goes the body will follow. When I really want to give my body a spring clean, I start with doing the same for my home – I put on some tunes and clean the house from top to bottom so the space feels fresh and by the end, I’m ready to set a few clear intentions. I’ll take out a pen and paper and write down the “why” behind my detox, so if I’m tempted to give up I have a clear reminder as to what made me start – it works every time. I always make sure a daily meditation is part of every detox too, it makes me feel centred and in control.

Sian’s Swapsies

I think it’s so much more fun to make a ‘yes’ list than a ‘no’ list, so instead of just deciding what I’ll cut out on a detox, I make a list of what I’ll replace things with. For example: greens (tea or juice) over caffeine, wheat-free whole grains over bread/pasta, raw cacao over chocolate, home made almond milk over dairy, soda water with ice and pieces of fresh fruit over alcohol or other sweetened drinks, fresh foods over packaged, fish over red meat, plain greek yoghurt over flavoured versions, veggie sticks over crackers, frittata over pizza.
